Observing at the School of Rock in Sandy was the highlight of my explorations into the arts in our community, so far. I went with Lisa A. & my 10 year old son. We were able to see the school & then sit in on their "Little Band's" rehearsal. The little band is a group of 5 students who auditioned to be in a performing group that is for hire & also available for charity & local events. They are Jr high aged & younger. We were SOOOOOO impressed with their talent & how much fun they were having while rehearsing. Their band director was very encouraging & fun. He was obviously very knowledgeable as well. He introduced himself & explained that he is a Music Major at the U of U & he directs the band as a second job because it's his passion. My son is now begging to attend the School of Rock, which was why I took him with me, but it is very pricey :( I promised him when I become a teacher & we have 2 incomes that he can attend because I felt like it was worth the tuition. In the meantime, it helped convince him to join the Elementary School orchestra :)
